Derek Strong
Managing Director
Derek joins Fiera in 2025 to lead the buildout of the firm’s Private Debt platform in Western Canada. Based in Vancouver, he works with advisors, family offices, founders, management teams, and sponsors to originate and deliver customized private debt solutions for growth and transition.
He brings 30 years of experience from Roynat Capital, where he helped grow the Western Canadian and cross-border lending businesses. Derek led several landmark transactions, including Roynat’s largest mezzanine loan, first NAV loan and played a key role in developing the firm’s strong relationships with private equity sponsors and management teams in British Columbia where Roynat provided unitranche, junior debt and minority equity for share transactions.
A lifelong Vancouver resident, Derek holds degrees in Accounting and Economics from Capilano University and Simon Fraser University.
