Derek Weigel

Derek joined Fiera Private Debt as a Director in 2026 and supports the investment team on non-performing loan management and special situations. He brings more than 14 years of experience in financial services, including the last eight years in credit, where he has focused predominantly on cash flow and enterprise value lending.

Before joining the team, Derek was an Associate Director on the Diversified Industries team within Commercial National Accounts at TD Business Banking. In this role, he was responsible for providing underwriting and credit support across various portfolios, including completing in-depth due diligence and providing structuring recommendations on new opportunities as well as various portfolio monitoring functions for existing borrowers. He also brings five years of experience in the private debt space through his time at Centurion Financial Trust; a Canadian private debt fund focused on the North American lower midmarket.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Banking and International Finance (First-Class honours) from City St. George’s University in London, U.K.
